When and why did you get started?
I picked up my first set of db’s when I was about 16 years old. My father
came home with a bench and some weights. I started to get teased quite a
bit in school for being so skinny and I kept talking about how I wanted to
put on muscle and get bigger, my father listened to me. After a few months
of constant reading, eating and training in my bedroom, I decided to ante
things up a bit and get myself into a gym. I signed up at a local gym
where I learned from the best, the vets who have been living the lifestyle
that is bodybuilding. I learned so much from these guys who spent day in
and day out eating, shitting and breathing bodybuilding. I still put to
use most of the things I learned from them to this day. Listening to those
with experience is something everyone should do, soak up everything like a
Will you always strive to get stronger or at some point just try to maintain?
I will always try to get stronger, I’m not one to settle.. I’m always
trying to improve and better myself both mentally and physically. I will
be that guy in the gym at 50, 60, 70 years old still training like an
Have you done any competitions or plan to?
I have not stepped on stage yet.. I planned to step on stage a few years
back but due to a family tragedy I decided I needed to take a little time
off. I ended up taking about 3 months off of training, I needed to be with
family. I currently am training harder and feeling better than I ever
have, I was asked if I would ever compete by a friend about a week ago and
my response was “Yes, I hope to step on stage in the near future”. I’d
like to compete in the 165lb range which means I’ll need to get my weight
up quite a bit. At the moment I’m shooting for 175-180, so we’ll see how
What would be your biggest dream to be able to achieve?
I’d like to sit back at 70, 80 years old and not say what if, therefore
I’m jumping on every opportunity that comes my way, whether it be a
magazine feature, which was a dream of mine when I was just a runt or a
chance to do something someone else might not have been given the
opportunity to. Right now my biggest priority is Sacrifice & Honor, an
athletic based clothing line my best friend and I founded in 2010. This is
something we’ve poured our hearts into. Most of my time is spent working
on the line and everything that comes with it, the early mornings, long
days and late nights are all part of the deal. It’s definitely a grind but
staying busy is what I prefer. You can say that seeing Sacrifice & Honor
continue to grow is a big dream of mine, I started my first clothing line
when I was sixteen years old and because I was so young and didn’t really
have any experience in the business world, the line didn’t go far. You
learn from your mistakes right?.. and that I did. I’m definitely looking
forward to 2012 and any opportunities that might come my way.
Do you ever struggle to stick to your diet and eat lots of junk food?
I can honestly say that with time it’s gotten a lot easier, I used to
stray a little back when I first cleaned up my diet but realized that if I
wanted to see results and make progress I needed to stay on track and eat
clean 24\7, it’s about committing to the lifestyle as a whole..both diet
and training and making the everyday sacrifices in order to get to where
you want to be. I will usually have a cheat meal once a week where I can
let loose just a little and indulge a bit, it’ll usually be a big bowl of
chicken and pasta with marinara..I’m a sucker for Italian food. The
majority of my diet consists of eggs, boneless\skinless chicken breast,
bison, top sirloin, brown rice, yams, oatmeal, protein shakes and more
Allot of us out there love a good drink of alcohol from time to time, do
you ever drink, if so how often?
I do not drink at all, I have not had a drink since 2004. I had a big
problem when I was younger and realized I needed change in my life, it was
destroying me, so I decided to get help and quit. It was a very difficult
time in my life but thanks to family and friends I got through it. I was
finally living a lifestyle free of alcohol and drugs. My sister introduced
me to some new people, people who lived the Straight Edge lifestyle..a
lifestyle free of alcohol and drugs..a lifestyle we were proud to live.
They took me under their wing and before long they became some of my best
friends, friends that I am still in contact with today. I can easily say
that without these friends and Straight Edge, I might have easily
relapsed. My first tattoo was S.F.L. standing for Sober For Life, come
2015, 2020, 2035..I’ll still be able to look down at my arm and be proud.
If you could pick only one supplement what would it be? (Not protein as
you can get that from foods easily)
I would have to say Controlled Labs Purple Wraath. I get all my EAA’s,
through this drink. This is something I never ever train without as I
drink it during my workout. It’s easily one of my favorite supplements and
I have been drinking this for years, it’s a must for me.
What supplements do you take?
I take Controlled Labs Green Bulge which is creatine in pill form, Blue
Gene which is a Natural Anabolic Matrix designed to help with endurance,
stamina and performance. I also take White Flood which is an NO supplement
and Purple Wraath which is an EAA powder I drink intra-workout.
Your favourite food?
My favorite food of all time is pizza, if I go all out with a cheat
day..it’s definitely with pizza.
If you could pick only 3 different body parts to put on your body from 3
famous people, what would they be and why?
I’d have to say Lee Priest’s arms when he was in his early 20’s, easily in
my opinion the most defined arms I have ever seen. Antoine Vaillant’s
delts, straight up boulders and Danny Padilla’s legs circa 1980’s because
of how dry and defined they were.
Who do you look up to these days and why?
I look up to and have always looked up to living legend, Frank McGrath.
Easily one of my top 3 favorite bodybuilders of all time. He’s gone from
being at the top to the depth’s of hell, almost losing everything in a
near fatal car accident to being back on top. I admire him as a
bodybuilder and overall strong human being.
Your favourite quote?
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment”. – Jim Rohn
Your top 3 tips to someone that might be just starting out bodybuilding?
1. Read, I learned so much through reading.
2. Listen, those who have been living this lifestyle for years will have
experience..listen to them.
3. Stay consistent and never give up, results take time and in time
results will show.
What is your favourite motivation picture online and why?
Who wouldn’t want definition like that, incredible arms. This is a pic I
always look at on arm day.
