Cardio 3-5 days per week off season 20-30 minutes…6 days per week AM and PM contest 20-40 minutes Also extensive stretching and yoga 2-4 times per week.
3200-3800 cal 280+/-g protein 220-380+/-g carb 60-120+/-g fat Typical sources of protein (eggs/egg whites, chicken breast, lean beef, whey) carbs (oats, Ezekiel Bread, rice, sweet potatoes) and fat (olive oil, coconut oil, raw nuts and nut butters). I also incorporate and huge volume of vegetables in all meals other than pre/post workout.
Protein and fat as above with carbs cycled on a daily rotation with low (80-120g), medium (160-220g), and high (280-340g) days. I try to keep carbs as high as possible while still achieving the conditioning necessary.
When and why did you get started?
I spent 20 years as a cyclist at a fairly high level and was a burned out. I needed a new competitive outlet and a friend convinced me to try bodybuilding. I have been hooked every since and have been competing regularly for the last 5 years.
Will you always strive to get stronger or at some point just try to maintain? I will always try to keep moving forward in both strength and size.
Have you done any competitions or plan to?
Yes I have competed in about 20 contests over the last 5 years. Most recently I won the Open Middleweight, Masters 40+, and Open Overall at the 2011 NPC Texas State Naturals. I am currently planning on doing the 2012 Masters Nationals and/or Team Universe.
What would be your biggest dream to be able to achieve? To win my class at the Masters Nationals or the Team Universe.
Do you ever struggle to stick to your diet and eat lots of junk food?
No…I maintain a fairly clean diet year around.
Allot of us out there love a good drink of alcohol from time to time, do you ever drink, if so how often?
I do not drink.
If you could pick only one supplement what would it be? (Not protein as you can get that from foods easily)
Your favourite food?
Oatmeal with vanilla protein powder and peanut butter.
If you could pick only 3 different body parts to put on your body from 3 famous people, what would they be?
Kevin Levrone’s Delts, Phil Heath’s Arms, and Flex Lewis’s Legs
Who do you look up to these days and why?
Dave “The Texas Shredder” Goodin….A phenomenal natural physique and still a force at 50+ years old.
