Cardio before breakfast, one bodypart per day, rest day when my body needs it…always listen to my body
Porridge/Dinosaur Nutrition Whey Post cardio, then either
Broccoli or green beans, every 3hrs after breakfast, finishing the day with 6 egg omellete. (Dino Whey approx. 3am when off season)
When and why did you get started?
Started kayaking 2007, realising how unfit I was, I joined small gym to do cardio, they had a few machines in there and I started to notice a change in my body. Moved gyms to one owned by a bodybuilder who advised me on diet/routine and, well that’s it really, changed my life from there on in.
Will you always strive to get stronger or at some point just try to maintain?
Not fussed about strength as long I keep growing…not bothered if I lift 10kg dumbells or 50’s as long as its hard for me on that day, at that time.
Have you done any competitions or plan to?
I done 4 guest spots last year (2010) and entered the inaugural wheelchair class in the UKBFF British Finals 2010, which I won.
What would be your biggest dream to be able to achieve?
I don’t really have a dream so perhaps just to continue to learn and keep developing.
Do you ever struggle to stick to your diet and eat lots of junk food?
Hell yeah ..but am a firm believer of listening to your body and sometimes I truly believe that I “need” a kick..probably the lack of insulin, and this “blitz” giving me an insulin spike… well that’s my excuse.
Don’t on my pre-show prep tho.
Allot of us out there love a good drink of alcohol from time to time, do you ever drink, if so how often?
When off season, once per week, if that…pre-show prep, not at all.
If you could pick only one supplement what would it be? (Not protein as you can get that from foods easily)
Glucosamine…seriously helped with joint aches.
Your favourite food?
Honestly….its chicken and jacket spuds….honest
If you could pick only 3 different body parts to put on your body from 3 famous people, what would they be and why?
- Flex Lewis’ back
- Kai Greens quad
- Phil Heaths Shoulders
…and the answer to why? Really…do I have to explain lol
Who do you look up to these days and why?
Whenever I need a kick up the backside, I watch IFBB Pro Dan Smiths DVD. He just makes me realise that, as his title suggests, there are simply “no excuses”. I have trained with Dan and he has given me some great tips on training and despite our slight restrictions, it makes me all the more determined.
Your favourite quote?
A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins (Ian “Chem” Chambers)
Your top 3 tips to someone that might be just starting out bodybuilding?
- Get your diet sorted, by someone who knows (and preferably competed).
- If taking advice, take it from one person and one person only.
- Correct technique over weight EVERY time.
What is your favourite motivation picture online and why?
To be honest, its one of my own, taken from my guest appearance at NABBA North West last year… it was my best condition of the year and I want to put some quality size on, maintain as much of that size as I can when I next do a show, but to be “at least” as hard and tight as I was here.
