varies typically 3 on 1 off with weights, cv is always done.
Very much a volume trainer, even in a heavier lower rep week the sets will be high.
Clean – generally same as a cutting diet just larger portions and extra carbohydrates. I eat lots of fish, mixed seafood, peanut butter, variety of oils, rice, baby rice and oats. Greens are in all year.
As above but I tend to prefer lower carbs and re-feed when needed.
When and why did you get started?
Formally an overweight kid I found the gym at 16, my weight held me back a little in sports and I had real issues with food, self control and turning to food for comfort. I started seeing results fast, I got compliments and found my confidence growing this made me hungry to overhaul my physique not to comfort eat. The key was to educate myself as I had no influences that had trained in the sporty, no guidance I just had to learn and experiment, I attribute these years as being invaluable as I have tried almost every nutrition strategy and spent a decade researching sports supplementation and how to improve performance.
Will you always strive to get stronger or at some point just try to maintain?
Always, always improve!! I am the same in life as I am in the gym, I am never satisfied, never happy, this in one way is a blessing as I will never be complacent but in another its a curse as most will relax and enjoy life out of the gym, you’ll find me on my blackberry, mailing, working, helping athletes and driving Anabolic Designs forward.
Have you done any competitions or plan to?
Yes I did the NABBA north east in 2010, first timers. What a journey, I fully respect anyone and I mean anyone who gets on stage. Only people who have done know what it takes. I didn’t do anything in that show, I was around 210 lbs and just looked stringy with my height so I took 2011 off to grow Anabolic Designs. I will be doing the UKBFF Welsh show in September.
What would be your biggest dream to be able to achieve?
On stage I’d love to win a show and bring a trophy back to put on the Anabolic Designs mantle off stage its to see my brand continue to evolve and also watch my team of young athletes all hit their potential. We have some of the UK’s best young talent and I’d love to be sitting here in 5 years time talking about one of these guys being a pro!
Do you ever struggle to stick to your diet and eat lots of junk food?
No way!!! I love to eat clean… I dont eat junk full stop, I have a gluten intolerance which rules out most junk and do not have a sweet tooth so it easy for me.
If you could pick only one supplement what would it be? (Not protein as you can get that from foods easily)
This is a hard one as the owner of a brand I’d find it hard to pick one… either Anabolic Designs Ravenous or Aminotaur.I’d probably lean towards Ravenous at present. Ravenous increases appetite, rate of food digestion and nutrient uptake plus improve ph levels in the blood. I’d say this is a must for anyone.
Your favourite food?
Seafood selection, oats or baby rice with nut butter.
If you could pick only 3 different body parts to put on your body from 3 famous people, what would they be and why?
Triceps- Roelly Winklaar- the best in the business!!!
Back – Joel Stubbs – being tall myself I just love his span
Legs- Ben Pakulski- He just is going to be a modern day platz in a few years, he’s also a taller guy!!!
Who do you look up to these days and why?
I’ve become close friends with a UK athlete Anth Bailes, his physique is freaky but he has been a scholar of the sport, educated himself, preps people and genuinely loves what he does yet has started to find a balance in life. Someone who can do this gets nothing but respect and admiration from me, if the sport had more ambassadors like this not just on the domestic scene but also in the pro ranks we would see a much more positive message coming from the sport and a lot more kids and adults being educated about training and nutrition.
Your favourite quote?
The hungriest wolf is always at the bottom of the hill!!! This encapsulates what I stand for and my ethos, never satisfied, always looking to better myself, my brand, my team!
Your top 3 tips to someone that might be just starting out bodybuilding?
Buy Anabolic Designs products… I JEST!!
1, Learn… Knowledge is power
2, Find a mentor or someone you can get advice off consistently
3, set goals short, medium and long term, you should look at each as a chunk, only seeing the end means you will trip up along the way and cause you to push things to early this may impair progress or even health.
